Stop Letting Perfectionism Control Your Life

Stop Letting Perfectionism Control Your Life

Move beyond unrealistic standards and learn to value progress
without constantly striving for perfection

What is Perfectionism?

Perfectionism is the tendency to set extremely high standards and feel that anything less than perfect is not good enough. It can lead to excessive self-criticism, fear of failure, procrastination, and constant comparison with others. While wanting to do well can be positive, perfectionism can become unhelpful when it creates ongoing pressure, anxiety, or difficulty recognising your own progress and achievements.

Why CBT Is an Effective Treatment for Perfectionism

Perfectionism often creates a cycle of high expectations, pressure, fear of mistakes, and disappointment when those standards are not met. CBT helps you identify the beliefs behind this cycle and practise more flexible ways of thinking and behaving, without giving up your ambition or desire to do well.

How the Therapy Works

Recognising Perfectionist Patterns

We explore the situations, thoughts, and behaviours that trigger pressure to perform perfectly or fear of getting things wrong.

Challenging Unrealistic Standards

You learn to question rigid rules, all-or-nothing thinking, and expectations that leave little room for mistakes.

Changing Unhelpful Habits

We work on behaviours such as procrastination, overchecking, overworking, or avoiding tasks because they may not be done perfectly.

Building Healthier Expectations

You develop a more balanced approach to achievement, allowing you to value progress, handle mistakes, and move forward with greater confidence.
